I made the mistake of coming on here and searching for our President's name in the journals. It's how I learned that there are literal fucking Nazis on this site. Nazis, in 2017!

I can't believe we're in this mess. I feel very, very little hope.

My grandmother had surgery on her elbow on Saturday. She was cleared for it by her primary doctor and her cardiologist, and she was fine in the immediate hours after the operation. But on Sunday, things began to deteriorate when she started hallucinating, and she was moved to the ICU. Her blood sugar levels were high, her kidneys began to fail, and her pacemaker wasn't working. On Monday, they tried dialysis to give her kidneys a break, but it wasn't working. At 11:30 on Monday night, the phone rang and I immediately panicked. They were calling to put a breathing tube in and to put something in her arm to get her blood pressure monitored, since they couldn't get it in either arm or either leg. They kept calling to give us updates, sometimes every few minutes. When they lost her pulses and began CPR, we hopped in the car and rushed to the hospital. But by the time we got up there, it was too late. She was gone. They think she might have had a stroke and had been preparing to move her do tests when her heart stopped.

It all really, really, really... sucks.

I'm not participating in Script Frenzy or even Camp NaNoWriMo this month, which is so strange to me. Of course, we're only 10 days in, so I could maybe start something.

However, it's not likely. I've picked up a new hobby that I love so much. It's tactile, and it's different, and I'm catching on fast.

It's crochet.

My mother finally dug out a book she has from Leisure Arts with diagrams for both left handed and right handed people. She didn't feel comfortable teaching me since I'm a leftie. No matter, because the book did wonders for me. I've learned the four basic stitches, made a scarf for my cat (who does not appreciate it), and am now currently starting a purple blanket for myself.

It's only been about 10 days since I started, but I feel so much calmer doing it. It's a nice hobby to have.

I live by a pretty strict set of guidelines when it comes to music - stick with what you know. I don't listen to the radio. I don't check out new artists. I don't really enjoy many things that aren't rock or musical theater.

And then a little show called Hamilton walked into my life and changed everything. It's hip hop. It's about history. It's everything I hate.

Yet somehow, I love it. I gave it a small chance, just to see what it's all about, but now I'm obsessed.

The cast album was produced by Questlove from The Roots, which you may know better as the house band for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Celebrities from Mariska Hargitay to Steve Martin to Emily Blunt to President Obama are singing this show's praises.

I'm including YouTube links to some of my favorite songs from Act One. I beg anyone that reads this to listen to at least one. I wholeheartedly believe that it's not only the best musical theater cast album of 2015, but it's also the best hip hop album of 2015.
